Final Week to Purchase Library Books in Someone's Honor (or just because)

No school library would ever be able to purchase all of the books each year that their students want or need. There are just so many amazing books that are published each year! Plus the interest of kids is constantly changing. Librarians strive to have books for all students so that we are able to connect all kids with the right books for each of them. To help build our library collection with books that kids will devour, we are celebrating "Love Your Library" month at my school. I totally made this celebration up but I will do whatever it take to grow our library.

During Love Your Library month (which ends on March 6th), parents, companies and friends of the library may purchase library books in honor of students, teachers/staff or just because. Students who have books purchased in their honor will be the first to check out the book(s), will have their picture with the book placed on our wall of fame, will get to have an extra book checked out for the months of March & April, and will be leaving a reading legacy to our future Wildcats.

To donate books or money for books, go to: https://MackinFunds.com/fundraiser?co...

If asked for a school, we are Wilkerson intermediate. My students and I thank you in advance for any donation you are able to give.

What I've been reading lately:

Serafina and the Black Cloak - This is the first of four in the series and it is a fantastic read for those of you that love mysteries! It takes place at the famous Biltmore estate and where Serafina live with the father in the basement. Her father has told her to make sure no one ever sees her and she is unsure why but when children are beginning to go missing from the estate, she feels a strong urge to figure out who or what is behind these disappearances.

Flush - Noah's dad is knows that the owner of a local casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harbor. He can't prove it though, and so he decides to take matters into his own hands which lands him in jail. Noah decides to try and prove this himself in order to help his dad but he faces many challenges along the way. This book is also a great mystery that is also suspenseful and inspiring.

Don't Tell The Nazis - I love historical fiction! I often have to force myself away from this genre to read the other amazing books in our library. I justified reading this one now because the author, Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch, is coming to our school in November. I know! I'm so excited! In Don't Tell the Nazis, Krystia's family lives in Ukraine during the Soviet occupation of World War II and they are risking their own lives by hiding Jews in their home. Soon after this, the Nazis arrive and begin public executions of the Jews.

It's a book you will not want to miss out on for sure!
